Since 1999, Best Management Products, Inc., has been making innovative yet affordable catch basin baffles, hooded catch basin devices, stormwater litter traps, and more water quality systems to help clean up stormwater runoff. The company’s founders, T. J. Mullen and Lee Duran, an engineer and an architect, were involved in various facets of the water and wastewater utility markets. Customers came to them looking for ways to improve stormwater quality in the face of a new US EPA rule, Stormwater Phase II, which became law in December of 1999. Under that law, small and medium sized Municipal Separate Storm Sewer Systems (MS4s) became responsible for the pollutants they discharged into the surface waters of the United States. This meant that a wide variety of communities across the country had to adopt Best Management Practices (BMPs) to reduce the pollutants in their stormwater runoff—thus “BMP, Inc.” was born.
The company’s original product, the SNOUT® Oil and Debris Separator, has become one of North America’s most popular stormwater quality products, with over 80,000 installations in the USA and Canada. Over time, the company has developed other catch basin baffles and hooded catch basin trap accessory products that enhance the capability of the SNOUT, including the Bio-Skirt® oil-reducing boom and the Stainless TrashScreen™ for Full Trash Capture. BMP’s newest product is the Turbo Plate® which reduces turbulence and increases sediment and T.S.S. capture in a sump structure.
BMP focuses on reducing pollutants in the urbanized environment, including trash, floatables, oils and sediment with catch basin baffles, filters, and accessories. Talk to a company application engineer to help you find a quality stormwater solution today.
